Delivering Homes
Led by the community, for the community
Project Benefits
Affordable housing is in desperate short supply in Harrow, and this is haveing a negative impact on our communities. GPs identify housing issues as a common contributing factor to their patients’ poor health (Shelter, 2017). Poor housing conditions are also a strong predictor of general life satisfaction (Department for Communities and Local Government, 2015).
This development helps people build good relationships with neighbours and improves their access to informal social support. This means that improving the stability and quality of housing helps to improve health outcomes and prevent premature deaths – including suicides.
Building on infill sites, which are not economically viable for Council use, could significantly reduce the Harrow health and social care budget.
The current proposals are for 31 units, across 6 sites within the borough.
